The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities recently concluded a district assessment visit and selected Kasese to host an event on September 27, 2024. In a letter to the Chief Administrative Officer of Kasese, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Doreen S. Katusiime, emphasized that the event, themed “Tourism and Peace,” aims to showcase the region’s significant developments and attractions while highlighting the role of peace in the region’s socio-economic development.

“We appreciate your passion and support for the tourism sector and look forward to a successful engagement and organization of World Tourism Day 2024,” the statement concluded.Eric Baluku, the Kasese municipal tourism officer, expressed optimism that the event would further showcase Kasese’s tourism and business potential.

In recent years, Kasese has increasingly leveraged its tourism assets to attract global attention. The Rwenzori Theluji Festival, an annual tourism event, is a major occasion promoting sustainable tourism investments and enhancing the allure of Kasese with a remarkable Rwenzori experience.
