The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) held a workshop themed “Improving professionalism and enhancing ethical business conduct for better tourism business performance among tour operators in Uganda.”

The event which was held at Hotel Africana, Kampala brought together over 150 tour companies which belong to the AUTO umbrella to gain knowledge on various topics.

It was an opportunity to learn and unlearn, to the network as well as to share practical experiences.

The event was structured around key topics like: tour operations and management, promoting ethical practices in the tour operator business and how tour operators can both harness various innovations in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and protect themselves about possible threats of operating in the digital space.

In his remarks, the AUTO Board Chair, Everest Kayondo thanked AUTO members for deciding to belong to the body of professional tour companies and he commended them for seeking to acquire more knowledge.

The chairman emphasized the need for product knowledge and he emboldened members to familiarize themselves with the tourism products which they intend to sell.

The Chief Executive Officer, Gloria Tumwesigye called upon AUTO members to continue to uphold the banner of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators as the leading tourism trade body uniting the country’s reputable safari companies, and she encouraged all intending travellers to book through members of AUTO because of the many benefits and security that accrues from that.

This workshop follows an induction meeting for new tour companies which took place on 21st March 2019, and several other similar engagements in the previous years that AUTO has organized to build the capacity of their members in delivering excellent services and experiences to Uganda’s visitors.

This is all aimed at further setting their member companies apart as the number one trusted and proficient tour companies in Uganda.
