From the office of the CEO, Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO),

Gloria Tumwesigye.

As the world ponders around how soon we will be able to make that friendly business handshake again, and as phrases like “the new normal” dominate airwaves; we recognise the importance of our role in firming the bonds around the world, because very soon we hope to travel again.

Our commitment to diligently help get the much-needed assistance for our members, their clients and partners, while keeping you apprised of any in-the-moment news in this rapidly changing landscape has not seized.

Riding on AUTO’s legacy of 25 years as leaders and influencers of the tourism trade in Uganda, we will specifically continue to lobby for incentives for sustainable tourism businesses.

We want to acknowledge the support of all our partners and clients around the world.

Our greatest appreciation goes out to all members of AUTO for professionally handling the effects of the COVID19 pandemic guided by the relaxed reschedule policy guidelines from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), as well as the different individual companies’ procedures.

Our mountain gorillas are giving birth to new healthy babies, our undiscovered mountains still stand magnificent, our national parks are rejuvenating, we continue to protect the source of the Nile River and the many tribes remain heartily preserved.

We are hopeful that this industry that we all love; the travel and tourism industry that has given us the most memorable experiences in the past will recover, just as it always did in previous times.

We thank God for sparing us, and applaud the efforts of our Government and Health heroes who’ve stood selflessly at the frontline in this battle against the coronavirus.

We promise to wait and welcome you all to an even fresher and more flamboyant Uganda, The Pearl of Africa.

Until then, we send you our best thoughts and encourage you to stay safe.
