Kampala, Uganda

The Board and management of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), announced at a meeting convened in Kampala following hours of thoughtful deliberations.

KAMPALA (March 18, 2020) – The activities planned for the Murchison Fun Run, scheduled for Sunday 22nd March 2020 in Kampala, have been canceled and postponed to a later date to be communicated in due course.

Our decision to postpone the activities has been premised on the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that is rapidly evolving and has affected many countries around the world.

We would like to thank the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Health, for their advice, recommendations and guidelines for carrying out safe mass gatherings.

We thank all our partners and sponsors for their continued support and commitment towards this event.

We would like to also thank all participants who had already purchased their running kits and inform them that they will still be valid when the new date is communicated.

The safety of all participants is our utmost priority and we do this in solidarity with the victims that have suffered the worst effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

We will continue to monitor the situation and hold consultations about the best date in the future to hold a successful event.

Uganda remains free of the coronavirus and we stand with all our friends around the world with great hope that the situation will subside very soon.

Finally, we call upon you to continue following the basic precautionary measures put in place by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health to minimize the infection and spread of the virus.
