Members display certificates of completion at the end of the AUTO 3 days' training in Jinja


As is our mandate to work in the interests of our members since 1995 (Uganda’s tour operators) the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) among other things organizes trainings principally to improve the capacity of our members and to bridge the gap between the skills gaps in the tour operations business to make our member companies more competitive and continue to set them apart as Uganda’s most professional tour companies.

Between the 14th and 16th of June 2017, we hosted our members to a residential training in Jinja steered by a team of consultants with profound experience in the business of tour operations. A rich wealth of topics with strategies and techniques for successful tour operations were presented and these included:

  • Developing an internet marketing strategy
  • Developing winning tourism websites
  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and marketing
  • Social media and content marketing
  • Email marketing and customer inquiry management
  • Source market travel agent management
  • Turning client complaints into opportunities
  • Client handling, expectation management and communication skills
  • Strategies for maximising returns from tourism trade exhibitions

From the in-session interactions during the training to the post-workshop evaluation reports, the training was successful and the objectives set out at the start were not only achieved but exceeded.

With the ever evolving business environment and the fast advancements in science and technology and changing trends in travel behavior, it is without doubt a necessity to move with the trends by keeping up to date through research, consultations, attending networking events, associating and attending trainings.
