AUTO Membership

AUTO Membership is open to those organizations whose primary activities are the planning, marketing and execution of package tours in Uganda. Applicants must be limited companies registered in Uganda with at least Two (2) shareholders, and must have the minimum infrastructure and staffing to allow them to carry out their activities in accordance with the Association's Code of Conduct.

Here is what you need to apply for AUTO membership.

Certificate of incorporation (photocopy) Memorandum and Articles of Association (photocopy) Trading License (photocopy)
Particulars of shareholders Particulars of Directors Company contact details
Details of services provided Staff CV's Details of marketing methods employed
Details of vehicles / boats / rafts or other equipment to be used for tourist owned by the company and copies of the log books as proof.

Things to Note:
A non-refundable fee of UGX 100,000 will be paid prior to the inspection on the AUTO bank account and a proof of payment delivered to the secretariat when submitting your application.
A site visit will then be carried out by an official to ascertain if the organization and business premises can be considered to be of the required standard befitting a professional tour operator. Ensure that you have a company’s website, proper signage and staff should be knowledgeable in tour operations.
If you pass the inspection, a joining fee of UGX 100,000 and an annual subscription fee of UGX 600,000 or 750,000 for Associate and Full membership respectively shall be paid not more than 12 months after receiving an acceptance note from the AUTO secretariat.
An associate member is in this category for only 2 years before graduating to full membership.

NOTE: AUTO follows a calendar year (January to December) you will be required to renew your subscription in January each year!


This process is meant for non-member companies wishing to join AUTO and previous members who wish to re-join AUTO.

1 Download the AUTO Membership Application Form to start the process of your membership to the association.

2 You must fill this form electronically (except on the specified fields). They should then print the form, and sign / stamp appropriately on Page 5.
3 You should then take the form to an existing AUTO member to be recommended. The recommender should sign and stamp appropriately.
4 The application form should be bound spirally as a booklet with; photocopies of certificate of incorporation, memorandum and articles of association, trading license and at least 2 staff CV’s.
5 It should then be delivered to the AUTO secretariat in Nakawa at the Capital Shoppers Building. 2nd Floor, Room 15.

Please ensure that all information is provided correctly and in full as failure to do so may result in your application being delayed. The Board of Directors at their next board meeting will review your application, and you will be informed in writing of the outcome of your application.

The Association reserves the right to reject applications and will provide reasons in writing as to why an application has been rejected.

Please Note:
Effective immediately, the old application form will no longer be accepted. Prospective members must use the new form.
All fields (except where signatures / stamps are required as above, and specified on the form) MUST BE FILLED ELECTRONICALLY, and printed. AUTO will not accept handwritten forms.
