Why Book A Trip To Uganda Now?
Uganda has gone from being the “Pearl of Africa” (as Winston Churchill put it) to
something of a diamond in the rough, situated at the crossroads of the East African savannah and the Central African rainforest (as we like to say it). Uganda is back on track after a period of sustained peace and significant investment in tourism infrastructure. The
country is fast re-establishing its excellent credentials. Uganda packs a holiday punch with a genuine feast of wildlife encounters, breathtaking landscape, delicious food, and the
friendliest people you’ll ever meet.
As if you needed any more convincing, here are five reasons why Uganda should be your next vacation destination with “Private Trip Uganda”.
1) Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Bwindi Impenetrable Forest may sound (and look) like something out of Lord of the Rings (there has to be a joke about Uganda-lf in here somewhere), but it is home to half of the world’s mountain gorilla population and one of only three places where you can see them
in the wild. Furthermore, park permits cost less than half as much as those in Rwanda, so you get more silverback for your dollar. The feeling of awe that comes with spending a few hours in their presence cannot be exaggerated. Seeing these gorgeous beasties in situ
entails trekking through steep, unforgiving terrain, so it’s not for the faint of heart.
2) Vibrant Culture
The Ugandans themselves are the highlight of every vacation to Uganda. The country’s small size makes it easy to travel by automobile, and you’ll be greeted with grins, waves, and real warmth wherever you go. Traditional dress, arts and crafts, and tribal dancing are all manifestations of modern Ugandan culture from regional tribal kingdoms. Going north to spend time with the Karamojong people, a tribe of agro-pastoral herders whose tribal jumping dance resembles that of Kenya’s famous Maasai warriors, is one of our favorite cultural experiences in Uganda.
3) One of A Kind Safari Trips
Although Uganda is classified as a Big Five safari location, comparing it to safaris offered in Kenya and Tanzania would be incorrect. It’s doubtful that you’ll encounter the Big Five while on safari here, but that doesn’t mean the wildlife isn’t abundant and diverse. In the
southwest, visit Queen Elizabeth National Park, where a diverse environment is home to a wealth of beauties, including leopards, hippos, lions, and the Ugandan Kob, as well as over 600 bird species. Murchison Falls, Uganda’s largest national park, is home to giraffes, elephants, and chimpanzees and offers a more off-the-beaten-path safari experience. As well as some breathtaking scenery, including the thundering waterfall from which the park
takes its name.
4) Uganda’s Scenery
In terms of scenery, it’s fair to say Uganda punches well beyond its weight. With its glacier- capped peaks, the Rwenzori mountain range is romantically known as the ‘Mountains of the Moon.’ Lake Victoria, the world’s second biggest freshwater lake (at a stunning 26,500
square miles) and the Nile’s major reservoir, is to the south. When it comes to the world’s longest river, it runs the length of Uganda, from Lake Victoria in the south to the sweeping grasslands of the north and then across the border into South Sudan. Uganda also has deep
forests, luscious marshes, and open plains, which are extraordinarily lush and support a rich ecosystem of flora and wildlife.
5) Chimps in Kibale National Park
Uganda is one of the few places on the earth where you may observe chimps in the wild and mountain gorillas. While most areas only let trekkers spend a few hours with the chimps, Uganda’s Kibale National Park offers a ‘nest-to-nest’ program where guests travel to the chimps’ sleeping nests and then spend the next day tracking them to their new sleeping nests that night. Magical.
